Wood Therapy Massage

Wood Therapy Massage

Wood therapy is a vigorous massage technique that utilises wooden, handheld tools, such as rolling pins and vacuum-suction cups. Purportedly, wood therapy is centuries old and is believed to have originated in Asia. The technique of wood therapy has seen a surge in popularity, primarily in South America, Columbia where people call it Maderoterapia.

According to a review published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice, this type of therapy has positive effects to relax the body and reduce various types of ailments. It is even an aid to calm stress, muscle and joint pain, circulatory difficulties, among other diseases.

In turn, cosmetic benefits are attributed to it, since it is believed that its regular application reduces the appearance of cellulite, scars and varicose veins. And although there is a lack of evidence about its effectiveness, today it has a very important place in the field of aesthetics, as it has the ability to firm and tone the body.

The Treatment

Wood Therapy's objective is to eliminate the fat that accumulates in different parts of the body such as the hips, thighs and abdomen. This type of massage activates micro-circulation in the treated area and eliminates water retention. It is also used to shape and firm the buttocks. The practice has shown that anti-cellulite wood therapy is much more efficient than traditional anti-cellulite massage.

The Wood Therapy session begins with dry body in order to prepare the skin and muscles. Then, the therapist applies massage oil and starts hand massage following the massage with the wooden accessories.
